Liability Waiver & Vehicle Condition Acknowledgment
Last updated August 21, 2026
Detailing is safe cleaning, but it works on materials that age. This page explains what we take responsibility for and what we cannot. Booking an appointment with Campbell Automotive Detail means you acknowledge it.
Pre-existing damage
Cleaning a car reveals what dirt was hiding. Scratches, chips, dents, dull or oxidized paint, cracked dashboards, worn seat bolsters, stained headliners and faded trim are frequently visible for the first time after a detail. We are not responsible for damage that existed before we arrived, and revealing it is not causing it.
Point out any existing damage to us before we begin so it can be noted. We photograph vehicles before starting work.
Aged trim, clear coat and adhesives
Plastic trim, rubber seals, emblems, badges, pinstripes, roof racks and clear coat all degrade with sun and age. Material that is already brittle, lifting, chalked or failing can crack, discolor or come loose during normal, safe cleaning — including a gentle hand wash, a light rinse or a wipe with a microfiber towel. We are not responsible for the failure of components that were already at the end of their life.
Loose, aftermarket and previously repaired parts
- Aftermarket accessories, spoilers, light bars, running boards, antennas, phone mounts and non-factory speakers may be attached with adhesive or clips that fail on contact.
- Panels, bumpers and trim that were previously repaired, repainted or reattached can behave unpredictably. Aftermarket paint can be softer, thinner or poorly bonded.
- Loose or rattling parts identified before service will be worked around, not cleaned.
Wraps, PPF and vinyl
Vinyl wraps, paint protection film and printed graphics have edges and seams that can lift when they are aging or were poorly installed. Tell us about any wrap or film before we start so we can clean around edges carefully. We are not responsible for lifting, peeling, edge failure, or moisture that gets under film that was not sealed properly.
Interior electronics and water
Interior cleaning uses controlled moisture, but older seals, sunroof drains, door membranes and previously repaired windshields can leak. We are not responsible for water intrusion through faulty seals, or for the failure of aftermarket wiring, subwoofers, dashcams or non-factory electronics that get damp during normal interior work.
Personal items
Remove all personal belongings, valuables, cash, electronics, firearms, medication, keys and important documents before your appointment. We do not inventory the contents of a vehicle and we are not responsible for items left inside — including items lost, damaged or discarded as debris during cleaning. Anything found that appears to be of value is set aside and returned to you.
Keys and access
If you leave the vehicle with us or hand over a key, you are authorizing us to enter, move and secure it as needed to complete the work. Do not leave a spare house key, garage remote or access fob in the vehicle. Vehicles at our Skokie work station are secured while in our care, but we recommend you not leave a vehicle overnight unless we have agreed to it in advance.
Ownership and authorization
By booking, you confirm that you own the vehicle or are authorized by the owner to have it serviced, and that you are authorized to approve the work and the charges. If the vehicle is leased, financed, a company vehicle or a rental, you confirm that detailing is permitted under that agreement.
Reporting a concern
Any damage must be pointed out to us before the vehicle leaves our possession, or reported to us within 24 hours of service. Once a vehicle has been driven away and returned to normal use, its condition can no longer be established, so claims made after that point cannot be verified and will not be accepted. Do not have repairs performed before contacting us. We take real accountability for real mistakes — call (773) 432-5251 or email Contact@campbellautomotivedetail.com. Our liability is limited as described in our Terms of Service.
